Happy Birthday

Say Hello to the birthday girl.

This is our little girl Fancy. She is turning 3 today and is very happy with her big rawhide bone she got today. That should keep her busy for a couple of days. We adopted her about 1 1/2 years ago from our local animal shelter, just a couple of months before my husband deployed. She is the daughter I never had, the barking doorbell I never wanted and the built-in security system that never works. Well, she has her moments, when people get scared of her. She is a chow-chow/golden retriever mix and it depends on how people look at her they see a overgrown Chow and back up or a very fluffy retriever. The worst thing she does to people is clotheslining them with her leash and drooling them to death. :) Otherwise she thinks that everybody is only there to pet her all day long. She also sheds like crazy right now and I always seem to have tumble fur around the house. I was thinking about shaving her for the summer, but didn't do it anyway, even with temperatures of almost 100 here today. Next winter she'll need her fur when she gets to see snow for the first time. I wonder what she'll think about that.

I can also tell you that I'm almost done with the Veste Everest. I only have about 5 more rounds to knit in the second armhole, then I'm done, except for all the ends to weave in.

I'll tease you with another pic here. Let's see what you think about that.

Mandatory Knitting Break

Today it seems I'll have a knit free day. Not by choice, I must say. I am getting my latest test knit in pieces and got done with the last section yesterday and won't get the next installment of the pattern until tomorrow. I was hoping to piece together the Veste Everest today and finish off the neckline and armholes, but instead I'm doing laundry and fixing blinds.

With only 7 days until the movers are coming to pack us up, there a lots of things to be cleaned out, organised, disposed off and fixed. Today was the day to fix the blinds. I didn't want to wait until the last day, even though I know how "talented" my kids are in breaking them. In nearly every room in the house there was at least one and as many as about 10 blades broken and with 5 big blinds and hearing that the housing office will charge up to 60 dollars a pop to exchange them, it was well worth the effort exchanging the damaged blades and gutting one blind and only putting up one new one, a generous gift from another nice neighbor of mine, that just moved out. I'll hand down my still usable blinds to my other good neighbor for her to fix any of her broken ones. We all gotta stick together here.

Next on the list I'll have to go and reregister out vehicles, which are due next month. First I was going to do this at our next duty station, but doing it here means not having to hassle with it there finding all the necessary papers, which are already on file here. Plus between all the boxes and papers and things that have to be unpacked and put away, I don't want to have to dig for it. I'll just be one of those people, which are not too uncommon in the military, that drive around with out of state license plates for a while. Talk about Georgia on my mind?

Ok. that's enough of a break for now. I'm off to find some more things to organise.

Hibernation in summer?

I know, it's been quiet on my blog lately, but I haven't been hibernating or anything like this. After all, it's summer and not the right season for it. I have been knitting the whole time too, trust me, but since it's a test knit, there isn't really much I can show you, except more cables and maybe how the mountain of 17 balls of yarn is shrinking. So far I've gone through 9 balls of yarn and the main body (I guess you have figured out it's a sweater, duh) is almost done. You know what comes next, so I'm not going to get into it any further.

However, here is something I CAN show you:

Those are the Tubey socks from the book "Son of Stitch 'n Bitch" by Debbie Stoller. The pattern was designed by Claudia, who can also be found on Ravelry here. I knitted them with Knit Picks Risata in the color Buttermilk with Dusk and Sable as accent colors.
Otherwise I don't have much to show for at the moment. I've been looking for something small to knit in between, kinda like an instant gratification sort of thing, but can't seem to find anything in that direction either. It's just this heat here in Georgia (we had 95 degrees today), the weather, something, I just don't know. Maybe it's me working for a couple of hours a day, maybe it's the boys being out of school or just the upcoming move, but I can't seem to be more productive. So I tinker along on those cables every day, a couple of inches at a time, until it's done.
I'll be working until the end of this month and then we'll be getting ready for our next military move to Kentucky. I'm glad to get out of here. The south just doesn't seem to like me and it's going both ways. I've been here the second time now and don't like it any better than the first time. I'm actually looking forward to white Christmas and snow, but might curse the snow, the first time I have to shovel. But just think how much more my knitting will be appreciated in climate like this instead of here. :) Gotta find the good thing in every situation and right now I'm looking forward to getting there, just not so much the move, the house hunting and the setting up and finding a spot for all the junk we own and drag with us. Yard sale, here we go.

I want to blog, I swear I do, but something always seems to get in the way. So now I just took the time, ignored everything else, even the nagging dog and the child next to me, telling me everything about playing Halo 3 I don't want to know, and plugged in my new toy. Guess what, this is what I'm using right now.

This is my new little Toshiba laptop that my husband insisted I'd have. I deserve it, he says. Hmm, what does he want? Or better yet, what does he want to buy to justify buying me this one? We'll see. He does things like that. Keri knows. The whole reason for that was that my older son caught something on our laptop, which made it not hook up to the Internet anymore. I wouldn't connect to the Internet Explorer anymore. Now this one works like a charm and I can even work Blogger perfectly again. I can link and I can move around my pics again, which was impossible before.

Now on the knitting note, I wanted to show you the last delivery from the UPS guy.

This is my new KP testknit. 17 balls of Comfy. Yes, it's going to be a big one this time, but I have a pretty generous deadline. I did my swatch and now I'm off to casting on. Once I have something to show for, I'll take some more pics.

Well, that's going to have to do for now. I'm needed again. Gotta run.

New Temptation

This is what I got in the mail a couple of days ago from Monika (www.yarnloopie.blogspot.com/). I'm going to test knit the Mohana pattern for her with this. It's a great yarn and a great color made by Dyed in the Wool Handmade in Winter Violet.

She also added a skein of Fleece Artist to it as a bonus. Thanks so much.

So no wonder I couldn't help but cast on this morning to see how this knits up and to get started on her test knit, so the pattern can available to more people than just her and me. I'm so special, I know, and I'm a schmuck too, but you have to forgive me for that.

The KP test knit is coming along great too. The only problem I have now is, that Monika's shawl and the KP is using the same size needle. Hmm. Timeshare?

Here is the reason for my short blogging absence:

Yes, Hubby is home. After more than a year he is finally back from his deployment and if I have anything to do with it, it was his last one too.
This is the boys, before the bus came in, waiting......

Crisis averted

I am so unbelievably happy that my computer recovered from it's "cold". I have no idea what happened, but it would give me trouble with the internet explorer. My husband is blaming it on me interrupting a systems check up. Anyway, I thought I tried everything, but nothing would make my poor computer better. So I remembered the problem my neighbor had one day and I deleted the program completely, hoping it would recover, after rebooting. Nope, wrong answer. Now it was definitely kaputt. After discussions back and forth I had that little light bulb going on in my head, the blond roots were pushed out of the way and I remembered something about restoring the darn thing back to a better point in it's life. So it tried this and low and behold, it worked. My puter is up and running again, like it was two weeks ago.

I promise I will never interrupt a check up on my computer and I know now how to work a time warp. Am I great or what? Keri, I didn't mean to bug you, but luckily I could figure it out.

So, first things first. Thank you Tammy and Monika for the following award

Both of them awarded me with the "You make my Day" award and that makes me feel so great. I'm so glad people check into my blog once in a while to check up on my knitting, get teased with KP sneak peeks and see whatever else is going on in my life. Thank you so much. Maybe it's my writing style that makes some people laugh. Having English as a second language is not always easy and I still catch myself every once in a while trying to translate a German phrase into English word for word, which or course makes not only my husband crack up. So bare with me, whenever I do this.

Oh, yeah, the award. Here it goes: "Da Rules"

"Give the award to 10 people whose blogs bring you happiness and inspiration and make you feel happy about blogland. Let them know by posting a comment on their blog so they can pass it on. Beware you may get the award several times."

Sorry about slapping the links on there like this, but blogger won't let me link it right now.

Of course out of contest are Tammy and Monika. All of those bloggers have such interesting blogs, whether it's because of their projects or just because of what's going on in their life. I'm sure we all have a long list on our bloglines, but there are just those certain blogs that we just have to jump to first, to check them out, while others get skimmed. Admit it, we all do it. So, to all of you I just want to say, keep blogging, and even if you are not on the immediate list, you are still on my big list, I check in on you all the time and I love you all.

Computer trouble once again

Like so many other bloggers, we are having problems with out computer once again and I'm working off of my old laptop computer. This stinks, but I hope you don't mind this short note. Don't know what happened, but I hope that between Norton and McAfee the mistake will be fixed and my lifeline to the knitting/blogging world will be restored.

KP is on the way to Washington and the Garden Party Shawl is growing a border. Just to let you know. Gotta get back to knitting, since it's hard for me to produce any pictures on this one. Or lets say, I don't want to go through the trouble of having to install software and all the good stuff I know so little about. I'm a user of this thing, that's it.

Later.

PS. I'll do the award thingy later, if you still think I'm worthy of it. :)

I guess I was good this year?

I almost forgot to show you what the mailman brought this week, totally unexpected and out of the blue (gotta love that man). I received a big, padded envelope from Monika in Canada and she surprised me with some really nice goodies. Here they are.

She sent me the Holiday Gift issue from Interweave Knits and two skeins of gorgeous Koigu yarn in just the perfect color for me next to some wool wash for me to try. Maybe that will give my Lopi sweater some softness? It might just make me tuck in all those loose ends and actually block that thing. Monika, thank you sooooooo very much. It was such a nice surprise. I could say I'm speechless, but we all know that's not the case. :D

Now let me get back to my second Mermaid glove. Yes, I'm still working on them. Having to figure out the pattern on your own, just by following a picture, is not that easy, but absolutely manageable at times. I have to reverse the "scales" for the other glove, but since I know where and how to do the fingers and especially the thumb now, it should be no time, until I can present them to you. I have no interruptions planned, so let me go "fishing" again. Today is not an outside day anyway. Thundershowers are to be expected. Yuck. Let's cuddle up with some knitting, a book and something in the crock pot.

Mailcall

First of all I want to wish everybody a Happy Halloween today. I'm not a great fan of it, I don't like the scary movies that are constantly on TV, even the shows on the kids channels. They make my kids want to sleep in my bed at night and I like my space. So, after tonight, hopefully I have more room again. :)

This is what my two pumpkin heads made for this year.

Not too bad I must say.

Now for the fun part on my side. The mailman (gotta love that man ;)) brought me another package yesterday. Wanna see what was in there?

I ordered a big skein of Bare sock yarn, black Essentials sock yarn, Shadow Jewels Heather and a longer cable for the Options needles. Yum.

The sock yarn is so I can make more stranded socks or mittens and combine them with all my other crazy colored sock yarns. I might be done with the Endpapers, but that doesn't mean I'm going to do everything one colored now ;).

The lace yarn and the longer cable is for the Shaped Triangle Shawl from the "Gathering of Lace". This is going to be my next lace project for a friend of mine. Now I get to use my new swift!..... Gotta go, gotta wind. Talk to you later.

Too Cute

Let's start off with a non knitting thing. Meet my little sons new Spanish class friend. He doesn't have a name yet, but they made this sock puppet in Spanish class and have to bring them to school on the right days and they get to talk to them. He (I assume it's a boy) is too cute. Oh, and the one on the right is my son ;)

Here is a quick picture of me - knitting, what else.

Here is a picture of my dog. My son got camera happy and wanted take pictures of everything until the batteries went out - again.

And this is what I picked up at our local Goodwill store this morning. I know, some people won't be caught dead in there, but I didn't have much to loose, right. And now look at what I dragged out of there. It's a Cashmere/Silk short sleeve sweater with beats in a purplish/grey heather color with beats. No, I'm not going to wear this, but I'm going to recycle it, take it apart and will have a good 4 ounces of yarn, minus the beads. And all I paid for this is 3 dollars. I know it's some work involved, but I couldn't say no to this. Even doubled that would make a nice lace something, don't you agree? No, let's get back to them needles and then pull out the little bitty scissors and the winder. I'll give you a before and after shot as soon as I'm done with it.

Breath.......

I swear, if anything else would have gone wrong yesterday, I would have screamed. How would you feel if you just dropped of one of your kids to a birthday party and two hours later you want to jump into your trusty Jeep to go pick him up again and the darn thing won't start? Yeah, exactly. I put in the keys, the gauges went crazy and that was the end of it. No more sign of life. Now what am I supposed to think now. And to top it all off, it was parked in front of the garage, where my other car is parked. Lucky for me I have a couple of friends that lent me their car without even hesitating and I was able to pick up my kid. Then, after I had figured out that it's probably a bad soldering connection to the battery, came the other drama. No juice, no locks! How the heck to you lock a car that has only one key hole and the electronic is shot? To make it short, I did get a sign of life out of the car, after I put on a new connector I bought, long enough to lock my car for the night. It's still not running, but I got access to my husbands car now. Hmm, I guess I'm forced to drive around with the cool Mustang now for a couple of days until my Jeep aka. the grocery getter, is fixed. I'll suffer so baldly ;oD

Now to better news. I did happen to finish the first Harry Potter book and moved on to the second one. Woohoo.

Oh, you wanted knitting news? Sorry. I've been a bit torn between projects right now. I started the Endpaper Mitts beginning of the week for Keri's Fingerless Mitts for Fall KAL, but haven't even finished the first one. But, for my defense, I'm at the thumb increase, so I'm making progress, just slowly.

What I was most occupied with, besides my nasty neighbors (doesn't everybody have them?), was the latest Knit Picks project. Remember the green one? Yeah, that one. For some reason that one has been dragging too. Must be me, because the pattern is not hard to remember and I enjoy knitting with the Swish.
(I know it's not the best picture, but that's how it's supposed to be)

To add to it, the new Lace KAL "Secret of Chrysopolis" has started on Friday and the only thing I got to do on that one so far is read all the comments and posts on the yahoo group and print out the pattern. It looks nice so far, has a great border and is really promising. You can see first pictures of it here and there is still a chance to join in. The pattern is written out as a chart and is easy to follow as long as you know what ssk, YO, k2tog and a sl 1 k2tog psso is and it's pretty much bilingual in German and English. So there is no excuse not to check it out and I've even found a couple of people from the Mystery Stole KAL again. Imagine that.

I've also ordered a new book, some yarn and the new Harmony Options needle tips from Knitpicks and can't wait to get all my stuff. But we all know how it works, when you are really, really waiting for something. Seems to take double as long, but I think I have enough to keep my mind and hands occupied until the mailman shows up for me.

Until then, don't let those needles cool too much. It's getting colder outside.

Check this out

Just a quick picture for you to look at. You know that some celebrities go to Iraq to boost the morale and stuff like that? Well, my husband met Toby Keith, a senator, some comedians and then today, he sends me this picture. I guess I don't have to feel so bad for him after all.

Those are the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders (so I've been told)
Yeah, OK. We need to talk...... (Just kidding)

A MUST READ!! Does the military get paid too much?

Ok, I know this is a knitting blog, but since I'm also a military wife I was somewhat upset (this is the mild, rated PG version of my response) about this. I got this email from a fellow military spouse and just wanted to bring this to everyones attention that thinks that the military "swims" in money.

Somebody has started to straighten some of these thoughtless and ungrateful people out. And I am even more grateful that it was someone serving in one of the branches of military.

Military paid too much ? You be the judge !

This is an Airman's response to Cindy Williams' editorial piece in the Washington Times about MILITARY PAY, it should be printed in all newspapers across America.

On Nov. 12, Ms Cindy Williams (from Laverne and Shirley TV show) wrote a piece for the Washington Times, denouncing the pay raise coming service members' way this year -- citing that the stated 13% wage was more than they deserve.

A young airman from Hill AFB responds to her article below. He ought to get a bonus for this.

"Ms Williams:

I just had the pleasure of reading your column, "Our GIs earn enough" and I am a bit confused. Frankly, I'm wondering where this vaunted overpayment is going, because as far as I can tell, it disappears every month between DFAS (The Defense Finance and Accounting Service) and my bank account.

Checking my latest earnings statement I see that I make $1,117.80 before taxes. After taxes, I take home $874.20. When I run that through the calculator, I come up with an annual salary of $13,413.60 before taxes, and $10,490.40, after.

I work in the Air Force Network Control Center where I am part of the team responsible for a 5,000 host computer network. I am involved with infrastructure segments, specifically with Cisco Systems equipment. A quick check under jobs for Network Technicians in the Washington, D.C. area reveals a position in my career field, requiring three years experience with my job. Amazingly, this job does NOT pay $13,413.60 a year. No, this job is being offered at $70,000 to $80,000 per annum... I'm sure you can draw the obvious conclusions.

Given the tenor of your column, I would assume that you NEVER had the pleasure of serving your country in our armed forces. Before you take it upon yourself to once more castigate congressional and DOD leadership for attempting to get the families in the military's lowest pay brackets off of WIC and food stamps, I suggest that you join a group of deploying soldiers headed for AFGHANISTAN; I leave the choice of service branch up to you.

Whatever choice you make, though, opt for the SIX month rotation: it will guarantee you the longest possible time away from your family and friends, thus giving you full "deployment experience." As your group prepares to board the plane, make sure to note the spouses and children who are saying good-bye to their loved ones. Also take care to note that several families are still unsure of how they'll be able to make ends meet while the primary breadwinner is gone -- obviously they've been squandering the "vast" piles of cash the government has been giving them.

Try to deploy over a major holiday; Christmas and Thanksgiving are perennial favorites. And when you're actually over there, sitting in a foxhole, shivering against the cold desert night; and the flight sergeant tells you that there aren't enough people on shift to relieve you for chow, remember this: trade whatever MRE (meal-ready-to-eat) you manage to get for the tuna noodle casserole or cheese tortellini, and add Tabasco to everything. This gives some flavor. Talk to your loved ones as often as you are permitted; it won't nearly be long enough or often enough, but take what you can get and be thankful for it.

You may have picked up on the fact that I disagree with most of the points you present in your opined piece.

But, tomorrow from KABUL, I will defend to the death your right to say it.

You see, I am an American fighting man, a guarantor of your First Amendment rights and every other right you cherish. On a daily basis, my brother and sister soldiers worldwide ensure that you and people like you can thumb your collective nose at us, all on a salary that is nothing short of pitiful and under conditions that would make most people cringe. We hemorrhage our best and brightest into the private sector because we can't offer the stability and pay of civilian companies.

And you, Ms. Williams, have the gall to say that we make more than we deserve? Rubbish!

And frogging we will go...

Yup, I did it again. I frogged those poor socks. Why? I didn't like the way the gusset was coming along. I had 72 stitches instead of the usual 60 or 64 stitches on my needles. That was the first thing that was bothering me. Then I decided to step away from the usual short row heel that I like and go with the pattern. Fine, I did that and then decided to decrease all the way down do 64 anyway. Well, my feet are neither fat nor flat, just long and the way the sock was coming along, I don't think I would have had fun wearing it, if it was too loose around the ankle. I absolutely hate it when the socks don't fit and I get blisters from wrinkled up socks inside my shoes. So, to make this story short, I pulled the thread.

I'm very fast with that lately, I've noticed. Does that mean I'm not happy with what I'm doing? I just can't make up my mind on what I want to do next and I thought a quick project would help, but it didn't. Of course cleaning up my two boys' rooms for the last two days didn't help much either. Maybe that was the reason for the quick rip. I sure made more than a few trips to the trash can with full bags. I am actually getting ready for a yard sale at the end of the month so that was my reason for weeding out clothes that were too small, moving the ones from the older boy into the "holding area" until the little one would fit into them. Then I was going through toy! What was I thinking? Did you ever sit down and sort Legos from Duplos, Matchbox cars from Happy Meal Toys, Playmobil from anything else and so on? You won't believe how many zip lock bags I used to sort all this stuff.

Have you ever seen that many legos in a box? You know you are getting good when you pick up a tiny piece and you know what "family of toys" it belongs to. And half of them I found in the room of the kid that always complains about not having any. Hmmm, where were they all hiding then?

Tomorrow I have the last of it with the books and that should be the end of that.

I also kept all the jeans. Why? I'm planning, some day, but don't ask me when, to make a scrap throw out of them. Just cut up the jeans in different size squares and different shades and sew them into a unquilted rag throw. Sounds good? Well, don't hold your breath that it's going to happen sometime soon, but that's at least my excuse for holding on to those jeans.

Now, what to do next. Of course there is still that baby blanket that seems to be growing into almost a bed spread. Don't know what I was thinking when I was casting on, but I'm at the end of the second pastel ball of yarn and it's still not even square, but it's growing at least. Underneath you can (barely) see a regular size baby blanket, you know the kind that comes with a sheet and bumper set.
My mystery stole is in a time out until I see the next clue knitted up on someone's blog and I decide what to do with it. Besides that I'm waiting on Knit Picks yarn (again) and that is it. Nothing else. Oh, I'm so sad, now it's my turn to look for my mojo. It's like an epidemic that hits everybody sooner or later and now it's my turn. I better find something, fast!

I was wondering...

Has any of you ever taken the time to see how fast you are knitting? I mean I know there is a difference on american and continental knitting, but have you ever sat down to figure out how many stitches per minute you can knit? Not a complicated pattern, just the regular knitting your stockinette stitch without even looking at it knitting? I would be interested what you have to say about this and what the average number would be. Would you mind helping me out on that? I know we all have something on the needles and there are only a couple of days out of the year that we don't even touch a needle or at least think of one, so that should be an easy task to master. I'm just curious and yes, I had a REALLY uneventful day. I'm really bored even though I WAS knitting today.

I'm still here

This entry won't have any pics for you so if picture books is what you read, you don't even need to bother this time. I'm just giving everybody a quick update on what's going on and that I didn't drop off the face of the earth, if I don't blog for a couple of days.

Update one: My husband made it into country on Tuesday for his R&R from Iraq, which is the main reason why my knitting and blogging time is cut short for a little while.

Update two: I finally got the so long expected yarn from Knit Picks for my second project and wouldn't you know it, I ran into the mailman on the way to picking up my husband at the airport? Another reason why I don't have much time to blog, but my husband is understanding that everywhere I go now the bag with my knitting has to be with me and when I sit in the car, the map and the knitting is in my lap.

Update three: Chevron Scarf and Mystery Stole have to sleep for a while. You will get an update on those two once I have a chance to come up for air in between my upcoming very busy two weeks. I won't have a problem to catch up with the stole, since that usually only takes me a day to complete and the scarf looks the same as on the last picture, just a little longer again. I'm knitting it until I run out of yarn. Don't know how long it's going to be at the end.

Update four: Totally off the knitting content, we are taking a family trip this weekend and I'm going to take pictures, so expect them next time.

Now I gotta go and I'll check in with you all later.

Recovery Sunday

Today is a lazy day to recover from this week. Yesterday we went to the beach and came back with a nice sun burn. My older son, which tans easily and usually never has a problem with the sun, has his first sun burn and is not very happy about it. Welcome to my world. So the only thing we are doing today is hanging out the house, maybe cleaning all the sand out of my Jeep, and knitting on stuff. That is my part anyway. I don't think my boys are going to start knitting for me, like Tiennie's husband. Hale to him, I bow in respect.

I've been doing some stuff these last couple of days. Here is what is going out in the mail today. Still shrouded in mystery, but this is all you get until the catalog comes out. When? I don't know yet.

Then I did a dozen of those again. Since we are an army post with mostly deployed soldiers right now, these flags are selling very well. Bad for us wives, who's husbands are gone, but good for me.

I'm getting ready for the start of the MysteryStole 3 on Friday, the 29th. I'm itching to get the first clue and casting on with the very soft merino/silk blend yarn I ordered just for this stole. I also have beads to knit in with it, but I'm undecided on the color. The race is on between the ice and the crystal. I'd show you pics of the beads, but my camera didn't want to focus the way I wanted it to and then the batteries ran out.

Then there is another thing that is holding my knitting spirits above water. Since I'm not in the mood for socks at the moment (Monkeys are sleeping), I don't want to touch 100 % iceland wool in almost 100 degrees (Fair Isle is hibernating), there was a certain lace doily that was calling my name and I answered. I found this nice pattern in The Lacy Knitting of Mary Schiffmann. It's called the plastic doily and it's just what's keeping me busy until Friday. As you can see I've already made some progress. I don't know what it is with the circular lace knitting, but it's fun. I don't know who this is for, but I had to knit something interesting, airy, lacy for now and that was it. I'm knitting this with 100 % Cotton crochet yarn on 2.5 mm circular needles. It's some german brand that gives me 267m/50g and is usually worked with a 1.5 to 2 mm hook. I know I'm nuts, but that's just me.

Happy Anniversary to me

I just wanted to share with you what my husband sent to me via UPS yesterday. It was a box that looks like a little house and had this little guy in it.

Isn't he sweet? I don't have a name for him yet, so I'm open for suggestions. After 17 (!) years he still knows how to surprise me. Now this is a Build-a-Bear and he was made to my husbands wished, tuxedo, sash and roses added, the way he wanted them. Since my husband is more than 13,000 miles from home he is the next best thing for me to hug. And for all of you that wanted to see what I looked like, here we go. (The one with the red shirt is me).

I also have other news, that I can't reveal yet, because I don't want to jinx it (no! no family expansion here) I have something simmering, that might put some of my knitting projects, even planned ones on hold. I'll give you more hints as things develop. I bet I got you on your toes now. In the meantime I'm finishing up the first sleeve on my fair isle. Laurie, do you hear me? Keep up, girl.
